My Little ASTRO!!!!

We had our first official game tonight and it was quite comical! These little guys are very entertaining - especially Caleb - he's definately more theatrical than he is athletic at this point! He LOVES to slide...he slides when he's chasing after a ground ball, he slides when he runs to first, he slides into second and slides again at third and let's not forget home plate! He slides there too! That is if he can remember to go from third to home and not from third to the pitchers mound to first again! What a laugh! I wish you could have seen it - what made it even funnier is that his helmut had fallen down over his eyes...so he's pretty much runnin' blind from here to there!!!!!!
He played the field for the first inning and that was a hoot watching him dance around and then steal a ball that his teammate fielded - quite nicely I might add! Matt (aka "Buttermaker" - from the BAD NEWS BEARS -hee hee) decided to put Caleb as catcher for the second inning...he actually did a little better there I think. It was so funny seeing him try to walk in all of that catchers gear! I'm not sure if Buttermaker made him wear a "cup" or not but while I was bathing him he thought it would be funny to put the cup that I rinse Berkleigh's hair with over his "wee wee" and say "I'm wearing a cup!" so maybe Buttermaker did make him wear one! Got to protect those little jewels!
As many of you know, Caleb has a thing for infomercials and it amazes me that he can remember so much information. He came into the computer room this afternoon to let me know he was going to call Nationwide....ya know? "Nationwide is on your side! " He picked up the phone and started dialing he even remembered the number! He had only been watching t.v. for about thirty minutes while I got Berkleigh down for a nap! Who knows how many times that add ran in that thirty minutes but I figure if I make him watch a full major league game we'll have a Nolan Ryan on our hands in no time!! At least then he can act and look like he knows what he's doing!
Well, considering we've only had two practices I think we did pretty well. I think Buttermaker did a pretty good job too! It's not easy trying to teach eight five year olds how to play ball.....ya know, five year olds only have about a three minute attention span so Buttermaker has to figure out how to keep them focused for the other 57!! Until next time!! GOODNIGHT!
